I know how important it is to get to know the health professionals you work with! Here's a little about me so you can get a feel for both my personal, and professional side. Can't wait to meet you and learn more about you as you get connected with the Dark Blue Community!

About Me

If you're new here - welcome! My name is Katie, and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), Certified Personal Trainer and founder of Dark Blue Nutrition. I'm from the Midwest (Southern Illinois to be exact), but moved to Colorado with my fiancé and 4 furbabies in 2019. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Master's Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics with an emphasis in Nutrition Education. You can find more details about my credentials and expertise at the bottom of this page.

As an INFJ personality type, I am a highly intuitive, empathetic and highly-sensitive person. It became my lifelong mission to help others heal their relationship with food and fitness, after my own personal struggles with an eating disorder as a teenager. After healing and developing a healthy and sustainable diet and lifestyle, I saw first hand how much it changed my life, my body and my mental health and I knew that I wanted to help others do the same.

Through my personal and professional studies in nutrition, I discovered the importance of mindful eating, intuitive eating, and functional nutrition. I also learned how prevalent eating disorders are, yet often under-diagnosed. In our media-saturated world, disordered eating is unfortunately normalized. That's why my mission is to spread the message that "healthy eating" does not have to involve restrictive diets or extreme measures.

What does "Dark Blue" represent?

If you're new here - you might be wondering what the "Dark Blue" in the name "Dark Blue Nutrition" means. Well, let me tell you the story behind it. As a music lover and color enthusiast, the inspiration for the name came from the song "Dark Blue" by Jack's Mannequin. The term "dark blue" captivated my attention because of its unique energy and meaning behind it.

I strongly believe that colors have a profound impact on our emotions and well-being. In fact, in the world of energies and chakras, dark blue is associated with our "third eye" or inner wisdom and intuition. This is where the connection to nutrition comes in - here at Dark Blue Nutrition I want to empower people to tune into their inner wisdom when it comes to fueling their body.

At Dark Blue Nutrition, I strive to create a judgement-free and enjoyable approach to nutrition that enhances your life rather than restricts it. I want to break away from the traditional, restrictive approach often seen in the fitness industry and create a more positive and empowering experience for everyone.

I'm new here - how do I get started working with you?

Great question! If you haven't already, make sure to follow me on YouTube and Instagram, where I frequently post content. By subscribing to both, you'll stay connected and up-to-date with my weekly free content. Now, ask yourself which of these statements best describes you:

"I prefer to work independently and at my own pace, but I still value community support. Currently, I don't have the budget or availability for one-on-one coaching."

OR

"I have the time and resources to invest in myself, and I'm ready to commit to the coaching process. I find that consistent accountability from a coach is crucial to achieving my goals."

Remember, both options are equally valid; it's a matter of personal preference. If you resonate with Option #1, start with my free training on Mindful Eating and Food Freedom for Beginners! On the other hand, if Option #2 speaks to you, head over to my coaching page and consider applying for one-on-one coaching. As I only work with a select few VIP clients at a time, I recommend applying soon before my nutrition coaching calendar fills up!

Now that you know a little about me, I'd love to hear from you! If you have any questions about working together or joining one of my online nutrition or fitness programs, don't hesitate to email me at darkbluenutrition@gmail.com.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!
